Brighting Park is a unique place for training racehorses. There is over 1,000 acres of spectacular countryside for the horses to enjoy. With an experienced close knit team, each horse is given the individual focused care, attention and time to develop mentally and physically to reach their full potential.

There will never be more than thirty horses in training, so all owners enjoy equal status and are integral part of a small professional yard.

“We do our best to ensure our owners enjoy the fun and excitement of racing as much as we do”, Di explains.

About Di Grissell

Di was brought up with horses on a farm in Cambridgeshire where hunting and racing took priority. She started her racing career with a two-year spell riding work for former champion trainer Henry Cecil, before becoming secretary to Derby winning trainer Arthur Budgett, and then to the astute and colourful trainer Sir Mark Prescott in Newmarket.

An accomplished lady jockey, Di rode in point-to-points and under Rules. She was one of the first ladies to ride over jumps under Rules against professionals and was Champion Lady Rider in the 1978-79 season.

“One claim to fame was riding in all six races on the card at Plumpton, completing the course on all and winning the last,” she says, which was unique for a lady jockey at the time. Di also had the thrill of finishing 6th in the Coral Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Festival on Genovese.

Since starting training in 1990, highlights have included being second in the Cheltenham Foxhunters with Real Value, and second in the Irish Champion Hunter Chase at Punchestown with Satchmo.
